Top 5 Communication Apps on Android in Ghana in Q1 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, the top communication apps on Android in Ghana—WhatsApp Business, WhatsApp Messenger, Snapchat, Telegram, and Opera Mini: Fast Web Browser—showed diverse trends in downloads and active users.

WhatsApp Business experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at around 486K in early January before seeing a mid-quarter dip to 72.8K in late February. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 2.4M and ending the quarter with approximately 2.5M.

WhatsApp Messenger also showed a dynamic download pattern, with a high of 255K in late February and a low of 78.7K in mid-March. Active users steadily increased from 4M in late December to over 4.3M by the end of March.

Snapchat saw a gradual decline in weekly downloads, starting with approximately 63.7K in early January and dropping to around 30.6K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated slightly, beginning at 1.9M and ending the quarter close to the same number.

Telegram experienced a high in weekly downloads with 66.8K in late January but saw a decrease to about 28K by late February. Active users showed minor variations, remaining close to 1.8M throughout the quarter.

Opera Mini: Fast Web Browser had a notable spike in downloads to 55.4K in early January but fell to around 17.3K by late March. Active users demonstrated a slight decline from 427K in December to around 412K by the end of March.
